Remote Work Security Checklist
Hand this to anyone who opens company email outside the shop.
Before you work off-site
- Screen lock is on. Updates are on. The disk is encrypted if the device allows it.
- Company email uses multi-factor.
- You know who to text if the laptop is lost today.
- Work files are not the only copy. The shared drive or backup still has them.
While you are out
- No public computer for email, payroll, or banking.
- Shoulder-check the screen in public. Lock it when you stand up.
- Cafe Wi-Fi is fine for browsing. Use a hotspot for anything sensitive if the network feels off.
- Family members do not use the work login “just this once.”
